  • Book Title:   Charlotte's Web

    Book Author:   E.B. White

Age Group For This Book: 7 - 9

    Review From: Cork

Charlotte’s Web is a heartwarming story. It is the tale of a pig called Wilbur.
Wilbur was the runt of his litter, and the farmer decided the kindest thing to do would be to kill the tiny piglet. His eight year old daughter Fern however, had other ideas. She made a promise to her father that she would raise Wilbur on a bottle. She kept her promise, and when the piglet was old enough he went to live in Fern’s uncle’s barn. There he made friends with the sheep, lambs, geese, goslings, a rat named Templeton and a grey spider named Charlotte. Fern still came to visit Wilbur every chance she got, which was often because her uncle lived down the road from her. Wilbur had plenty of friends, good food and was quite content living in the barn. But as he got older, the threat of the slaughter house loomed and he was getting distressed. Charlotte the spider thought of a clever plan to save her friend from becoming bacon. I really enjoyed this book. It is magical story and really shows the importance of friendship.
